The Venezuelan Navy has received two vessels built at the DAMEX joint venture In Cuba. The vessels, delivered on 6 June, include the first 249-ton Stan Patrol 4207 AB TN Fernando Gomez de Saa (PG 61) and the 740-ton Stan Lander 5612 AB Los Monjes (T 94) roll-on/ roll-off landing vessel. Venezuelan Navy Commander Admiral Gilberto Pinto Blanco announced that the Stan Patrol 4207 will be deployed to provide security for the state-owned PDVSA oil company's operations in the Atlantic and the Orinoco Belt. Los Monjes is the last of four Stan Landers ordered in 2011, the first of which, AB Los Frailes (T 91), was delivered in April 2012. Venezuela's Minister of Defence, Admiral-in-Chief Carmen Melendez, stated that these are two of many joint projects being undertaken with Cuba to strengthen Venezuela's naval capabilities.
