The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress on 11 June of proposed Foreign Military Sales worth a total of USD241 million to upgrade M109 self-propelled howitzers and M113 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) for the Brazilian armed forces. The Brazilian government has indicated interest in purchasing two separate arms packages that will 'modernise and improve' its armed forces. The larger transaction, estimated at USD 131 million, consists of 434 Ml 13A2 Mk1 kits to upgrade M113 APCs to the M11 3A2 Mk1 configuration.
