Airbus Defence and Space (DS) announced the completion of its upgrade of the Brazilian Air Force's (Forga Aerea Brasileira - FAB's) P-3A Orion maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) and the sale of search and rescue C295 platforms on 28 July. The last of nine P-3A aircraft to be fitted to the P-3AM standard at the company's Seville production facility in southern Spain has now been flown back to its base at Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. In addition to the return of the final upgrade P-3A, Airbus DS has announced that the FAB is to acquire three C295 aircraft for search and rescue duties. The aircraft, which will be delivered from the end of 2014, will join the 12 transport-configured platforms already in Brazilian service.
