Tsepo Monaheng, CEO of South Africa's Denel Dynamics, faces a challenge that many in the defence industry will envy: the company is growing substantially faster than the 10% year-on-year both he and his team had expected. Speaking to IHS Jane's, Monaheng said he is "excited" by this, but also recognises the challenges it brings. "We have to find and train skilled people to execute those contracts, and we must adapt our facilities from being focused on development, prototyping and technology demonstrators to full-scale manufacturing, to international benchmark standards," said Monaheng. However, the company is entering a "very profitable" period that will generate the funds to meet those challenges, and the effort it has put into its intern project will provide some of the engineers it will need, he added.
