A major Turkish defence reform report has urged the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) to increase their combat troop levels, ability to deploy abroad, and joint capabilities. The 220-page report was prepared over a year by civilian and military bureaucrats as well as academics on the instructions of former president Abdullah Guel. Only 42 pages of the report were made public on 22 August; the remaining 178 pages were not released.
