A new set of Spanish government regulations on the export of defence and dual-use materiel came into force on 27 August. The government said the system would bring the regulations together "in one sole document", expanding on previous export legislation and "updating regulations on the transfer of defence material exports". Its objective was to "set out conditions, requirements, and procedures" to enable the country to "comply with European Union norms and Spain's international commitments, as well as contributing to the promotion of world and regional peace, stability, and security," according to the foreword to the 153-page document released in the Official State Bulletin.
