The Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft has demonstrated a forward-firing capability, Bell Helicopter announced on 8 December. The contractor-funded trials took place in November at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, said a company press statement. A V-22 test article fired a 70 mm rocket from a launch tube mounted on the aircraft's left side. "The forward-firing demonstration was a great success," Vince Tobin, vice-president and programme manager for the V-22, said in a statement. "We've shown the V-22 can be armed with a variety of forward-facing munitions and can hit targets with a high degree of reliability.
