The UK will not be able to field its full helicopter lift requirement for at least the next two decades, the National Audit Office (NAO) revealed in its Major Projects Report 2012. According to the report, released on 10 January, the helicopter lift force of Boeing Chinook HC.4/5/6, AgustaWest-landAWlOl MerlinHC.3/4, Westland Sea King HC.4, and Westland Puma HC.1/2 platforms will be able to provide barely more than 80% of the UK Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) rotary-winged mobility requirement out to 2030 and beyond.
