The British Army is to buy the Glock 17 pistol as its new sidearm, following a contract announcement by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 9 January.In total, the army has purchased 25,000 9 mm Glock 17 Gen 4 pistols and associated holsters under a contract valued at GBP9 million (USD 14.4 million). The Glock 17 replaces the 9 mm Browning High-Power (L9A1), which has been in British Army service since 1967.
