Indian police charged former Air Chief Marshal Shashindra Pal Tyagi and 11 others on 13 March with cheating and conspiracy in the USD750 million import of 12 AgustaWestland AW101 helicopters for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also raided Tyagi's home and office and those of his three cousins, among others, seeking evidence of their alleged involvement in the purchase. Tyagi denies any wrongdoing and told IHS Jane's that decisions on the helicopter deal were confirmed before he became air chief in 2004.
