The German Navy's final Braunschweig-class (K130) corvette, FGS Ludwigshafen am Rhein, was commissioned on 21 March. The development is an important progression for the troubled class and is a step towards full strength for the German Navy's First Corvette Squadron. While the first two K130 vessels ( Braunschweig and Magdeburg) are fully operational, the remaining three (Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Oldenburg, and Erfurt) are not expected to be fully operational until the beginning of 2014.
