AEL Sistemas is to provide the avionics suite for the JAS 39 Gripen E for the Brazilian Air Force (Forca Aerea Brasileira - FAB) and other future Latin American operators, should the aircraft be selected to fulfil the country's F-X2 fighter requirement, Saab officials announced on 9 April. Eddy de la Motte, Vice-President and Head of Gripen Export, told reporters at the LAAD defence exhibition in Rio de Janeiro that the Elbit Systems subsidiary company would be responsible for providing equipment such as cockpit displays, computers and switches for the Gripen E should it beat-off competition from the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and Dassault Rafale to provide the FAB with 36 new fighter aircraft.
