The US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded Sikorsky a USD435 million contract to manufacture four production-representative CH-53K heavy-lift helicopters for the US Marine Corps (USMC), it was announced on 3 June. The contract, awarded on 30 May, will cover System Dem- onstration Test Articles (SDTA) that the marines will trial during the operational evaluation (OPEVAL) phase of the CH-53K programme.
