Three companies are competing for Poland's Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) requirement, for which the deadlines for initial proposals closed on 7 June. BAE Systems is offering its Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer, Lockheed Martin UK is offering the Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) T-50, and Alenia Aermacchi is offering the M-346. Meanwhile, Aero Vodochody, which had been expected to offer its L-13 9 Alba-tros jet trainer, has not placed a bid for the AJT competition. The programme aims to replace the Polish Air Force's ageing TS-11 Iskra jet trainer fleet with an advanced jet trainer; a comprehensive training centre, based at Deblin; and training support packages.
