The French Army has reduced its requirement for its planned Engin Blinde de Reconnaissance et de Combat (EBRC) reconnaissance vehicles from 292 to at least 250. The Direction Generate de l'Armement (DGA) is also expected to issue a request for proposals (RfP) in 2014 for the design and construction of prototype EBRC vehicles for trials, with an in-service date of 2020. An RfP had been expected this year. The EBRC vehicles will replace the current Nexter Systems AMX-10RC 105 mm and Panhard Defense 90 mm armed Sagaie armoured cars. Under contract to the DGA, Nexter Systems studied a range of EBRC configurations covering tracked and wheeled platforms and various armament systems.
