摘要

The team behind the US/German/Italian Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) programme is remaining stoic in the face of its likely demise and is instead focusing on executing the programme's design and development (D&D) phase. "We plan to finish strong," said Marty Coyne, Business Development Director for MEADS at Lockheed Martin, speaking at Le Bourget on 19 June. Noting the programme had conducted a successful 360-degree intercept flight test in November 2012, Coyne said that another planned intercept test late this year, originally scheduled to be a single intercept, would in fact now be a dual intercept. The target missiles will be launched more than 120 degrees apart to fully demonstrate the system's 360-degree intercept capability.
