Denel Dynamics has said that the development of its new light unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system, the Hungwe, is at an advanced stage. This is a 2 m, 35 kg UAV with a 4 m wing-span and six hours' endurance carrying a 5 kg sensor payload. It has a 12,000 ft ceiling and an operational radius of 100 km from its ground control station. This consists of a laptop-based two-console unit, with stations for the UAV pilot and the sensor operator. The sensor turret houses a high-definition daylight TV camera and an infrared camera.
