The US Air Force is testing new software for the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper that allows those unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to rely on cheaper satellite services for data transmission and flight control. In July US Air Combat Command (ACC) began testing the software, which enables the MQ-1 and MQ-9 to track 'inclined-orbit' satellites, a US ' defence contractor familiar with the programme told IHS Jane's.
