The UK Trade & Investment Defence & Security Organisation (UKTI DSO) has amended the procedures under which it supports UK firms looking to export their products in light of a number of recent cases in which British businessmen have been jailed for selling fake bomb detectors. Gary Edward Bolton, 47, was jailed for seven years at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) on 20 August for selling a product called the GT200, a device that "was made up of a box, plastic handle and an antenna with no functioning parts" that expert witnesses found was "completely ineffectual as a piece of detection equipment".
