CTA International is a joint venture between BAE Systems and Nexter of France, and was formed with the aim of developing a new medium-calibre cannon for use with armoured and reconnaissance vehicles. The resulting 40 CTAS weapon is highly compact, allowing it to be installed in turrets where there is only room for smaller-calibre traditional weapons.
