The Japanese Ministry of Defence (MoD) has requested JPY3.7 billion (USD37.4 million) for Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) to develop an advanced radar and fire-control system that can detect stealth aircraft. The MoD request focused on research and technological development of the system to detect and track stealth aircraft that evade existing radars, the MoD official in charge of the programme told IHS Jane's on 24 September.
