Construction has begun on the US Coast Guard's (USCG's) sixth National Security Cutter (NSC), Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) officials announced on 8 October. According to a statement by Ingalls Shipbuilding programme manager Jim French, workers have cut and processed more than 400 tonnes of steel for Muniu (WMSL 755), the sixth out of eight planned Legend-class cutters to be built at the Pascagoula, Mississippi, shipyard.
