The Nigerian Navy (NN) has laid out its objectives for the next 12 months in a Strategic Guidance document pub-lished on its website, with the overarching goal being a sig-nificant reduction in oil theft and attacks on shipping. In terms of new vessels, the NN intends to acquire five Kl3 inshore patrol craft; complete the acquisition of the former US Coast Guard Cutter USCGC Galla-tin; commission the first offshore patrol vessel (OPV) that is being built in China and complete the construction of a second in Port Harcourt; and complete and commission an indigenous second seaward defence boat.
