The US Army awarded contracts to Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems on 31 January for the Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM) programme's technology development (TD) phase. The contracts support a 21 -month period of performance and are to include competitive prototyping, the army said in an announcement on 1 February. Brandon Pollachek of the Program Executive Office for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEW&S) told Jane's that additional information on the awards or the competition "will not be available until after a debriefing period". PEO IEW&S will oversee the project.
