Turkey's flourishing defence trade relationship with Saudi Arabia is underlined by recently published figures that show a 162 per cent increase from 2010 to 2011 in military materiel and services trade between Ankara and Riyadh. The figures, which take the disclosed value of Turkish exports to the kingdom from USD41.2 million toUSD108.3 million, were published by regional media organisations, including Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata of Italy, and attributed to the Turkish Defence Exporters Association. Exports to Saudi Arabia accounted for 26 per cent of total Turkish defence industrial exports of USD414.8 million in 2011. Other destinations of Turkish military equipment and services during the year were reported to have been (in order of size) the United Arab Emirates; the US; Bahrain; Azerbaijan; Turkmenistan; Kazakhstan; Pakistan; Lebanon; and Italy.
