摘要

Taiwan's USD800 million Surveillance Radar Program (SRP), described by a former US defence official as the world's most powerful early warning system, is likely to lack space-tracking capabilities when it comes online later this year, sources have told IHS Jane's. Development of the long-range ultra-high-frequency early warning radar (EWR) programme, located on Leshan (Happy Mountain) in Hsinchu County, central Taiwan, began in 2004, with Raytheon Corporation carrying out the work under contract with US Air Force Materiel Command's Electronic Systems Center in Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts.
