Arturo Puricelli and Celso Amorim, the defence ministers of Argentina and Brazil respectively, issued a joint statement in Brasilia on 17 April in which they outlined their intent to strengthen their countries' military relationship. Military education and training, joint exercises, research and development, joint defence industry opportunities and cyber defence were among areas of co-operation cited. Puricelli suggested that Argentina should adopt the Brazilian Air Force's VANT unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is based on the Elbit Hermes medium-altitude long-endurance UAV. He also said the countries could co-develop projects for their missile inventories.
