The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is preparing to deploy surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems across six sites in the capital to protect the London 2012 Olympic Games, the MoD stated on 30 April. The MoD was known to be considering such a move after an announcement in November 2011, although thisistheflrst time that discussions about the possible deployment sites have been made public.
