Cobham has agreed to acquire Danish vehicle satellite communications (satcoms) firm Thrane & Thrane for an increased offer of GBP27S million (USD446 million) after receiving backing from the company's board. Gebham's initial GBP270 million offer was rebuffed in March, but was renewed in April after it acquired a further 22.7 per cent stake from Thrane & Thrane's institutional investors. Cobham previously held about 3 per cent of the company. UK-based Cobham announced on 3 May that it now holds 47.4 per cent of Thrane & Thrane, having acquired stakes held by the company's founder, Lars Thrane (22.7 per cent), and the remaining board members (amounting to 0.3 per cent). Cobham now hopes to buy all outstanding shares following the board's recommendation.
