The US Marine Corps (USMC) has nearly finalised its requirements for the much-anticipated Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV), but alternatives to a new fleet are still being considered.So far, the ACV appears to be an amphibious tractor of about 70,000 lb (31,759 kg) that can travel in the water at up to 8 -10 kt from a range of about 12 n miles out, but those parameters are subject to change, said Rob Cross, director of the ACV programme.
