India is gradually augmenting its strategic and military capabilities to counter growing Chinese influence across South Asia and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR): locales India considers to be part of its extended area of influence.Furthermore, New Delhi finds Beijing's military modernisation and aggressive posture regarding Tibet increasingly worrying; China is now able to rapidly deploy up to six divisions to the area and has already established long-range missiles, logistical capabilities and a communication infrastructure in the region.
