Australia mimics US FMS Australia has established a government-backed defence sales unit to boost exports of locally produced materiel, it was announced on 2 July. The Australian Military Sales Office, which starts operations immediately, is designed to function in a similar fashion to the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme and facilitate Australian defence sales through government-to-government contracts. Promotion and marketing activities will also be channelled through the newly established office, the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) said in a statement.
