EADS is seeking to undercut Saab's deal to supply its JAS 39 Gripen NG fighter to Switzerland with an offer to sell surplus German Eurofighter Typhoons at a knock-down price, according to national media reports. According to a 26 August report in the Swiss newspaper Der Sonntag, EADS is offering 33 Tranche 1 Typhoons to partially replace the Swiss Air Force's ageing Northrop F-5 Tiger II fleet at a cost of CHF3.2 billion (USD3.3 billion).
