MBDA Incorporated (MBDA Inc) has tested its GBU-44/E Viper Strike glide munition against high-speed vehicles as officials demonstrated a new software version with improved capabilities. The tests, which occurred in August at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, but were not announced until 4 September, saw Viper Strike weapons launched from a Cessna Caravan test aircraft score direct hits in eight of eight shots, according Doug Denneny, a spokesman for MBDA Inc, the US-based subsidiary of European missile house MBDA.
