Japan's next-generation F-X fighter programme is set to take on increased significance for Japan's defence industrial base in light of the government's move to retain the long-standing defence exports ban but seek ways to enhance industrial capability through international development projects.rnThe Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) National Defense Policy Guidelines (NDPG), published on 17 December, made no reference to the Three Principles ban on exports that Japan's defence industry wants lifted to allow companies to take part in development programmes with international partners.
