Hamas deployed National Security Forces (NSF) to its northern and eastern border with Israel on 17 January to prevent fired projectiles targeting Israeli towns, Hamas security sources have confirmed to Jane's. A senior Hamas security source told Jane's on 20 January: "We forced these groups to stop firing ... projectiles because we have received threats through the Egyptians and the Qataris that Israel is intending to target Hamas in Gaza.
