NATO's Active Layered Theatre Ballistic Missile Defence (ALTBMD) capability may be battle ready, but it has no back-up redundancy should its complex C4 network go down, officials admitted during a briefing to reporters in Brussels on 2 February. A senior NATO official told Jane's that the newly completed network does not have more than one level of redundancy. "We do intend to have one for C4 in the future," a senior NATO technical expert said. "We have some capability underway, but we have to develop it."
