The US Army is set to meet its current requirement for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) as the service recently awarded a delivery contract to Lockheed Martin. On 31 January the company announced it had received a USD139.6 million contract to provide 44 of the mobile launchers, which would meet the army's procurement objective of 375 HIMARS, a Lockheed Martin spokesman told Jane's. Deliveries of these platforms are to continue through to January 2013, the company said.
