The Indian Navy frigate INS Vindhyagiri (F 42) collided with a Norwegian container ship in Mumbai harbour on 30 January. Vindhyagiri, a Nilgiri-class frigate, was reportedly listing and leaking oil after fire crews struggled to extinguish the blaze that resulted from the collision. The Press Trust of India reported that up to 16 fire brigade tankers had been sent to contain the fire. Captain B S Kuma, senior dock manager at the harbour, told IHS Fairplay that Vindhyagiri was entering Mumbai harbour after a day at sea with naval personnel and their families when it collided with the container ship MV Nordlake.
