The Israel Ministry of Defence (MoD) is close to sealing a deal with Rafael Advanced Defence Systems for the purchase of a second batch of Iron Dome counter-rocket batteries to defend Israel's borders against short-range rockets. Sources in Rafael said the company had been asked to prepare a proposal for a number of new Iron Dome batteries that would bolster the two delivered to the Israel Air Force (IAF) in late 2010. The IAF is planning to achieve initial operational capability (IOC) with those by the end of February after it holds a final round of tests.
