The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has rejected the BAE Systems Global Combat Systems (GCS) proposal for the Warrior Capability Sus-tainment Programme (WCSP), it has been confirmed. The decision leaves only one remaining contender - Lockheed Martin UK - in the competition. A BAE Systems GCS spokesman told Jane's: "We have been informed by the MoD that our WCSP bid has been rejected. We are working with the MoD to understand the reasons behind their decision. It would be inappropriate to comment further." Meanwhile, Lockheed Martin UK is in discussions with the MoD on the next phase of the WCSP. Jane's understands that the next hurdle will be securing funding in the MoD's PR 11 budget planning round, which is by no means certain.
