Defence ministries in 10 European countries have pledged their willingness to explore ways of pooling and sharing rotary-wing assets in a move that could lead to the creation of multinational helicopter wings (MHW). Budgetary and policy experts from the defence ministries of Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden and the UK gathered in Brussels on 8 February for an initial roundtable discussion hosted by the European Defence Agency (EDA). The aim was to test whether the MHW concept had sufficiently wide interest to justify a collective effort.
