In an announcement on 7 February the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Ja'fari, described the missile as having entered production. He also stated that it was very accurate, had a maximum range of 300 km and had a flight speed of about three times the speed of sound. However, Iranian press coverage of the announcement included a library picture of the Fateh A-110 ballistic missile and it is clear from the general's statements that this was the missile he was describing.
