The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) received a Hawker Beechcratt King Air BZOO maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) on 25 February. The twin turboprop aircraft, which was delivered into Luqa (Malta International) Airport, will augment the BNG BN2B (Turbine) Islander aircraft already operated by the AFM's Air Wing in the MPA role. in addition to the regular maritime patrol rote, the aircraft will be used to monitor southern European waters in conjunction with Greek and Italian authorities. It will also be utilised in a search and rescue capacity.
