The Israel Air Force (IAF) has ordered a further two Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Hercules transport aircraft, the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced on 8 April. Israel had previously requested the sale of three of the latest-generation Hercules airlifters with the option for six more as it seeks to recapitalise its tactical transport and aerial refuelling capabilities. In April 2010 it confirmed an order for one aircraft and associated equipment for USD98.6 million.
