India will provide the United States with additional details regarding its decision to drop two competing US fighter aircraft from its USD10 bil lion Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) competition, officials have told Jane's. Defence Minister A K Antony also said on 2 May that his ministry's decision to shortlist the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafael over the Boeing F/A-18E/F and Lockheed Martin F-16IN was meritbased and would not adversely affect bilateral strategic ties. The two other models in the contest were the Saab JAS 39 Gripen and Russian UAC MiG-35.
