The US Army Contracting Command has awarded Textron Marine & Land Systems with a contract to produce up to 440 Medium Armored Security Vehicles (MASVs) for the Afghan National Army (ANA). The MASV, a further development of the M1117 Armored Security Vehicle (ASV), also called the Guardian and currently in production for the US Army, has already seen extensive combat. The baseline ASV for the ANA will retain the one-person turret armed with a .50 calibre machine gun and 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
