The Ghana Air Force has ordered two Airbus Military C-295 tactical transport aircraft, the company announced on 4 August. Delivery of the twin-turboprop aircraft is set to begin in 2012. The value of the contract has not been disclosed According to Airbus Military, Ghana will use the aircraft for troop transport air drops, medical evacuation and humanitarian relief operations. In particular, they will allow the West African country to contribute assets to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the UN. With this order, some 85 C-295s have been ordered by 14 customers. More than 75 of the type are in operation with 11 countries.
