Fighting in Sudan's southern province of Kordofan "could easily" spill over to other areas in the region and must be urgently addressed, Princeton Lyman, US envoy to Sudan, has warned. "I think the danger in Kordofan is that it could involve South Sudan," said Lyman, pointing to the lingering tension and distrust between the two Sudans. "I think we should do everything possible to keep it from spreading, meaning we have to get a peace process going as soon as possible." Lyman briefed journalists by webcast from his office in Washington on 10 August.
