The 10th Moscow Air Show (MAKS) opened on 16 August with the Russian Federation Air Force (VVS) riding a wave of new spending. Russia's future advanced fighter, the Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA, was displayed in public for the first time and VVS Commander-in-Chief Colonel General Alexander Zelin outlined part of his plans for modernisation. However, it is not clear if the injection of extra money into the air force budget that began about two years ago will be sustained, or even if all the funding promised to date has been delivered.
